Safeguarding
Sport helps children grow and develop, and can provide opportunities for enjoyment and achievement. Through sport children can develop valuable qualities such as leadership, confidence and self-esteem.
The Community Sports Foundation has a duty of care towards children who take part in activities, or access services, that we provide as part of the Children's Act 2004. TCSF recognises that all children have a right to be safe, and to be protected from abuse and harm. The Foundation takes extremely seriously its duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and will take reasonable steps to ensure services for children are safe and accessible.
The Community Sports Foundation is committed to promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people engaged in sporting activities. The Foundations aim and objective is to contribute to safeguarding children and young people by:
- Meeting all the requirements and Standards set by the Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport scheme administered by the NSPCC
- Implementing and demonstrating best safeguarding practice when core staff, volunteers and others are providing services, activities and programmes for children and young people
- Requiring those individuals or organisations that are funded or commissioned to provide any service for children and young people to effectively address safeguarding requirements
- Maximising its influence to promote safeguarding practice and principles within its wider partnership roles and relationships
- Working with partners to establish and implement agreed, consistent minimum safeguarding standards for sports activities locally
